Here we go, another new website launch from ptoone, the short answer to what the site does, would be to basically say that it is a clone of Digg. One may ask why Digg when other popular social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook are taking over and may have stifled the growth off Digg. Well statistics seem to suggest otherwise when you look at the alexa tracking rank stats.

On top of that many bloggers feel the “need” for Digg, more than any other social media tool or site, in order to “drive traffic to their blogs in ways that even Twitter can’t match,” says blogger DavidRGilson. It also “helps offer a lot of blog exposure and fast indexing,” another blogger adds. Many of these bloggers have been commenting and asking for a decent worthwhile alternative to Digg, with the main reason for the change being loading times. The second reason for a change seems to be the fact that Digg was started in 2004, when social networking was in its infancy and search results were significantly less useful than they are today. There was no Facebook or Twitter, and your bookmarks menu on your browser was running out of space and becoming increasing less organized.

It also “helps offer a lot of blog exposure and fast indexing.”

While Facebook and Twitter have become very popular and useful for sharing a link in the moment, sharing it with entire world in a instant (or anyone that follows you) and that’s it. As for as organizing links into categories and trying to find them at a later date, it can be very difficult to search for them of other social networking sites which is why Thexyz.in was launched.

I am hereby releasing the latest tool for twitter tools exclusivley on thexyz.org. It is an automatic last tweet signature generator that allows you to create a html embed box, forum siginature or direct link to last tweet from any twitter, all with the click of one button. I am sure that not everyone will find this application useful, but I would love to hear about the different ways people are implementing it into social networks, blogs, emails and websites. I have a few planned for launch soon that do not require Twitter but they all work very well with Twitter and are designed with that in mind. Link-Shortener Tr.im Shuts Down, Blaming Twitter

Nambu Network, an online media company that operates Tr.im, said it is shutting the link-shortening service down after it ran out of financing options.
Tr.im competes with Bit.ly and TinyURL in offering shortened versions of long URLs that users can use on sites like Twitter, which limits the number of characters in each update.
“Tr.im did well for what it was, but, alas, it was not enough,” said Eric Woodward, Nambu’s chief executive, in a blog post. “We simply cannot find a way to justify continuing to work on it, or pay its network costs, which are not inconsequential.”
The company approached potential investors but found no takers, he said, and Tr.im customers aren’t willing to pay for the service.
Mr. Woodward added that Twitter’s use of Bit.ly as its default shortener made it even harder to compete. “Twitter has all but sapped us of any last energy to double-down and develop tr.im further,” he said. “What is the point? With bit.ly the Twitter default, and with us having no inside connection to Twitter, tr.im will lose over the the long-run no matter how good it may or may not be at this moment, or in the future.”

Thexyz Programmer Developments

After receiving some feedback from our members and a recommendation from Dreamstime.com’s Carmen Pietraru for a way to shorten links without signing up. I now have the pleasure of announcing that this feature is now active on thexyz.org homepage. This is great news for many people that just simply want to shorten a link fast. I have been working on producing this feature myself but in the end I recieved help from a developer that was suburb and highly recommended, Krzysztof Kwiatkowski of http://blog.kreci.net.

Although this is a major improvement to our free service there are still some great reasons to sign up, because when you sign up for a free fast and easy account you receive the following benefits:
